WAR

war (wor), noun. 1. Quarrel usually between nations conducted by force; state of open hostility; & suspension of ordinary international law, prevalent during such quarrel; military or naval attack or series of attacks; 2. (fig.) hostility or contention between persons; (civil war, between parts of one nation for supremacy; cold war, unfriendly relations between nations characterised by hostile propaganda & attempted economic sabotage) etc..
