The International Fellowship of Reconciliation believe that these challenging times provide an opportunity to create a lasting change that would make peace the “new normal” through:
-
COMPASSION: Prioritizing the protection of poor and marginalized people.
-
ACCOUNTABILITY: Protecting civil liberties and human rights.
-
CHANGE: Using the momentum of this global crisis to shift resources to meet human needs and foster a culture of nonviolence and peace.
The Day of Action is entitled “MAKE PEACE THE NEW NORMAL” and will highlight the need for compassion – accountability – change. Through actions big and small, the aim is to raise awareness about the necessity to prioritise peace now and in the future.
IFOR invite everyone to engage in various ways, including online during lockdown. You can find out more here about the many suggestions that IFOR is making for taking part in this global day of action.
The Peace Pledge Union (which includes people of many religions, and non-religious people) is happy to support our allies at IFOR in our shared aim of replacing war and militarism with the meeting of human needs.
