Witness for Peace on Armed Forces Day - Bury St Edmunds

Bury St Edmunds Quakers invite you to join them in an act of silent witness for peace. You are welcome to join them in reflection for part of all of the time, as you feel able.

As Armed Forces Day is marked across the UK, Bury St Edmunds Quakers say that the best way to show that they care about people in the armed forces is to work for peace and to prevent war.

They say, "The war in Ukraine is a daily reminder of the manner in which brutal force crushes other means of resolving conflict, tempting us to see a future depending on military power alone."

They add that they have "no illusions" about how difficult it to work for peace and to resolve conflict without violence, but they insist that it is essential.

This is one of several events taking place on 25 June to challenge Armed Forces Day and to resist militarism. Please see https://www.ppu.org.uk/afdaction.
