Conscientious Objectors' Day Vigil - Wokingham

Join a short vigil in Wokingham on 15 May from 12.30 to 1.30pm to reflect on and remember those who have refused to take part in violence despite facing persecution or imprisonment.

This vigil will hold in mind those around the world, past and present, who have refused to kill or torture others despite the threat of persecution and imprisonment by their governments. White poppies will be laid to remember conscientious objectors who are, or have recently been, imprisoned for their beliefs.

There will be periods of silence, and those attending are welcome to share a few words or bring short readings of poetry or prose, although there is no pressure to do so.

People of all faiths and none are invited to attend. Attendees are welcome to stay for the full hour or come and go as needed. Bringing seating is suggested, and an umbrella if the weather is wet.
