On the 75th anniversary of 'Victory in Europe' Day, the PPU will be joining with many others in remembering the victims of the Second World War, both civilians and armed forces personnel, of all nationalities.
At 11.00am, we will join with others in observing two minutes of silence. We will remember both civilians and armed forces personnel of all nationalities.
We will be emphasising that this is a time for mourning and learning from the past, so we will be challenging attempts by the UK government and the militarist lobby to use the anniversary of a mass slaughter as an occasion to celebrate. We will speak out against simplistic narratives about World War Two and against attempts to conflate World War Two with more recent armed conflicts.
We will also publish resources and information on our website, including alternative educational materials about VE Day for both primary and secondary school pupils who are learning from home during lockdown.
If you're planning something, want to join in or have questions for us, you can reach us at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 020 7424 9444.
