6.30pm - 8.30pm on Thursday 4th March
To attend, please email mail@ppu.org.uk BEFORE 6PM TODAY (Thursday 4th) for the Zoom link.
Everyday militarism is all around us - from military visits to schools to Armed Forces Day, from army recruitment on social media to arms companies sponsoring Pride marches.
The Covid pandemic is a reminder that guns and bombs cannot make us safe. It is more vital than ever to challenge militarist assumptions that equate security with preparations for war.
We will hear about the links between promoting healthcare and resisting militarism. We will hear from people who have campaigned against militarism during the pandemic, both online and offline. Most importantly, we will learn from each other as we explore ways to campaign effectively and practically.
Whether you're an experienced activist or new to the whole issue, you are equally welcome!
This will be followed the next month by another online event: Challenging Militarism in Your Community, on Monday 12th April. This will be a chance to share ideas and make plans for campaigning in your own area.
There will be other events as the year goes on, including in-person events when they become possible. More details will be available shortly. Please feel free to drop us a line with questions or suggestions at mail@ppu.org.uk
The event is free to attend, but please register so that we have an idea of numbers. Thank you!
