The ceremony will offer an opportunity for shared grief, hope and remembrance, commemorating all those who have suffered and died in war and reaffirming a commitment to peace.
White poppies represent remembrance of all victims of war, rejection of war as a means of resolving conflict, and a commitment to making 'Never Again' a reality.
Following the wreath-laying, everyone is invited to a bring-and-share lunch at the Quaker Meeting House. Participants are encouraged to bring a plate of vegetarian food to share if they are able.
White poppies are also available for £1 from the Quaker Meeting House on Upper Goat Lane, which is open from 9.30am to 1pm, Monday to Friday. Proceeds support the Peace Pledge Union's work to promote peace and nonviolence.
