What is the Farnborough Internatinoal Air Show?
The show welcomes companies from the arms and aerospace industry including makers of military planes, helicopters, missiles, drones, satellites/space, components and maintenance.
This year sees a heavy presence from arms companies including Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Raytheon, Leonardo, Elbit Systems, Rafael and many more.
The Farnborough Air Show functions in part as an arms fair, with arms companies displaying their products to representatives of various governments and armed forces.
It is marketed as a family day out, which not only covers up the arms fair element, it also presents people - including children - with an image of war and military aircraft as exciting and glamorous.
Protests are organised by local people belonging to Greater Rushmoor Action for Peace and backed by national organisations such as the Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) and the Peace Pledge Union (PPU).
All groups and individuals committed to peace are welcome to bring banners, flags, posters to say NO to Farnborough International Airshow.
