The Peace Pledge Union, Forces Watch and the Campaigns Against Arms Trade issued a joint letter raising concerns about arms companies and their targeting of young people at the Farnborough Air Show. The letter below featured in the Morning Star.

"As if there aren't enough concerns about Farnborough International Air show (M Star July 20), the last day of the "horror show" also acts as a showcase for careers in the aerospace sector which is dominated by the defence industry.

"Much of this is aimed at schools, children and teenagers. Under the shows whitewashing banner of "pioneers of tomorrow"arms companies are among the organisations providing science, technology, engineering and maths (Stem) activity, a "Stem zone" and military flight simulators.

"A Eurofighter Typhoon and an F-35, heavily used in air assaults on Yemen and Gaza, are on display. How many of the school children watching will know that these aircraft have destroyed many schools and thousands of other young lives abroad?

"As organisations endorsing education for peace and human rights, we firmly believe that weapons manufacturers should not be allowed to promote themselves to children and young people and through schools."
