Resist Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day will be held again, whipping up support for war by the back door and giving children the impression that violence and obedience are something to be admired. PPU members and allies around the UK will be challenging these messages.
Of course, we don't yet know what the Covid situation will be by June, and how far Armed Forces Day will involve major outdoor events. However, the National Event is planned for Scarborough and it is likely that there will be more going on than last year.

Armed Forces Day is about fuelling support for war and everyday militarism. It has little or nothing to do with providing help for veterans, who need a decent welfare state, not a celebration of militarism.

Thankfully, Armed Forces Day will not go unchallenged. The Peace Pledge Union is working with other anti-militarist groups to support local protests and other events.

We will have more information available closer to the time.

If you are organising a protest, vigil or other event in your area or online, or would like help to do so, or have ideas or suggestions for challenging Armed Forces Day, please contact the PPU at or on 020 7424 9444.

You can read more here about the PPU's view on Armed Forces Day.
