The BAE Systems' shipyard at Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria has been at the centre of Britain's nuclear weapons system for decades. It is building Britain's next generation of nuclear-armed submarines – the Dreadnought – at an estimated cost of £205 billion. Each of these Dreadnought subs will be able to carry up to 40 nuclear warheads – with just one powerful enough to kill one million people. With nuclear tensions at their highest in years, Barrow would be on the frontline of any nuclear attacks.
12 noon: join us for a leafletting action in the town centre; 1pm-3pm: rally on the High Level Bridge over Devonshire Dock, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.
