As arms dealers queue up to network with 'defence' ministers and dictators, we who oppose war have an opportunity. Who knows if the right conversation, at the right time, might not plant a seed which will one day result in an arms dealer rejecting the path they’ve chosen.
PPU Council member Matt Harbage is offering some training on how to talk with arms dealers in advance of DSEI 2025.
Why don’t they see the devastating impact of their work? What can you say to someone whose values apparently are so different to our own? Might they listen to a well formed argument, if not to completely change their mind, at least to start the process?
The training will take the form of learning from one another, role playing and engaging with members of the public.

Some background about Matt: I'm a Church of England priest based in London. As a student I was once interviewed for a job with an arms company. Since then I have signed the Peace Pledge and reject all killing and war. In my activism I’ve attended AGMs of arms companies for several years, and I’ve had conversations with people in the industry. My ‘day job’ is talking with a variety of people about some of the deeper questions of life and death.
Talking with Arms Dealers
Ahead of protests against the DSEI arms fair in London, PPU Council member Matt Harbage is running a free workshop on starting conversations with people attending the arms fair. Could the right conversation start to change someone's mind?
