White Poppy Events on Remembrance Sunday - Norwich

On Sunday 9 November, Women in Black and Norwich Quakers will hold a vigil in the city centre to remember all victims of war and to call for peace, followed by a gathering at the Peace Sculpture from 12.30pm.

Women in Black will hold a quiet vigil in Norwich on Remembrance Sunday, nearby the Civic Ceremony. They will bring photos of family members and others who fought fascism in the Second World War or in Spain, or who were on the Home Front, as well as white poppies. Their message will be one of remembrance and concern about the re-emergence of fascism and the suffering it brings.

At 12.30pm, the Peace Camp and Norwich Quakers invite people to gather at the Peace Sculpture. A wreath of white and red poppies will be placed in remembrance of all those who have died in wars past and present, whether soldiers or civilians, and of everyone whose life has been blighted by war. There will be silence, shared reflections, and the Universal Peace Prayer. Afterwards, all are invited back to the Quaker Meeting House in Upper Goat Lane for a bring-and-share lunch.
