Alternative Remembrance Sunday Ceremony - London

A ceremony of remembrance will be held in Tavistock Square, London, from 1.00pm. Organised by the Peace Pledge Union and other members of the First World War Peace Forum, it is an opportunity to remember all victims of war and to commit ourselves to working for peace.

White poppy wreaths will be laid in Tavistock Square by each of the organisations involved. Individuals and other groups are also invited to lay their own wreaths or individual white poppies or other flowers.

The ceremony will be followed by a Festival of Peace and Remembrance, in Friends' House, Euston Road (very nearby).

Similar events will be held in other towns and cities elsewhere in the UK.

On Remembrance Sunday this year, it will be 100 years to the day since the end of the First World War,
which was supposed to be the war to end all war. Since 1918, at least 67 million people have died in war.

The Peace Pledge Union, along with other peace and human rights groups - local, national and international - will hold events on and around Remembrance Sunday in remembrance of all victims of war, and to commit ourselves to working for peace.
